Fixing CleanCut Not Working: Reach, Collision, and Target Checks

Understand the three conditions

CleanCut only lets an attack connect when all of its conditions are met at once. If your hits are not landing through obstructions, walk through these checks in order.

Check 1: Reach distance

You must be within your normal attack reach of the entity. Move closer until the mob is comfortably inside range. Attacking a mob that is barely visible through a wall from far away will not connect.

Check 2: The blocking block

The block between you and the target must either have no collision or have zero hardness. Grass, flowers, and similar plants have no collision and are ignored. Solid blocks with collision still block your attack, so you cannot hit through stone or wood.

Check 3: The target entity

The entity must be living and collide-able. Hostile and passive mobs qualify. Non-living entities such as item frames or dropped items do not.

Quick troubleshooting

  • Step closer to rule out reach.
  • Confirm the obstruction is a plant or other non-solid block.
  • Confirm you are targeting a living mob.
  • Try a clean angle with only one plant in the way to isolate the problem.

If all three conditions are satisfied and hits still fail, test in a fresh area to rule out another mod interfering with attack tracing.
