Understand What Citadel Legacy Does and Doesn't Do

What It Provides

Citadel Legacy is a framework library that enables complex mob animations, custom models, and advanced entity behaviors in Minecraft 1.12.2. It handles the technical backbone: model rendering, animation playback, and data syncing between server and client. Without it, mods designed for newer Minecraft versions cannot run their creatures in 1.12.2.

What It Doesn't Add

Citadel Legacy adds no items, blocks, mobs, or gameplay features on its own. It is purely a backend system. You will see no new content in creative mode or the world. Its only purpose is to make other mods work correctly.

How to Use It

You don't "use" Citadel Legacy directly. Simply install it alongside any mod that requires it, and the framework loads automatically. The dependent mod will then function as intended, with proper animations and rendering. If a mod's description says it needs Citadel Legacy for 1.12.2, that's your signal to install this library before installing the mod itself.
