How to Create and Customize Chat Tabs in Chatting Mod

Chat tabs let you split your chat into separate windows so you can follow different conversations at once. This is the core feature of the mod, so it is worth setting up early.

Opening the Tab Manager

Open your chat screen and look for the tab bar along the top of the chat window. Click the button at the end of the bar (usually a plus or settings icon) to open the tab configuration screen. From here you can add a new tab, rename it, and pick an icon or color so you can tell tabs apart at a glance.

Choosing What a Tab Shows

Each tab has its own filter settings. Select a tab, then open its filter options. You can choose to show only certain message types, such as chat from other players, system messages, or server broadcasts. You can also filter by keywords or by specific senders, so a tab can track one person or one topic. Messages that match the filter appear in that tab instead of the main chat.

Arranging and Using Tabs

Drag tabs to reorder them, and set which one is active by default when you open chat. While playing, click a tab to switch views, or use the mod's tab-switching keybinds if you have set them. If a tab gets cluttered, clear it with the tab's context menu rather than deleting the whole tab.
