Using Charcoal Blocks as Furnace Fuel
Fuel Efficiency
Charcoal blocks function identically to coal blocks when used as furnace fuel. Place a
charcoal block in the fuel slot of any furnace, and it will burn for an extended duration, smelting multiple items before being consumed.
Loading Your Furnace
Open a furnace's interface. Put the items you want to smelt in the top slot (ore, food, etc.). Then place your charcoal block in the fuel slot at the bottom. The furnace will begin processing immediately, and the charcoal block will gradually burn away.
Bulk Smelting
Since one charcoal block contains the fuel value of nine charcoal pieces, it's far more convenient than inserting charcoal individually. This is ideal for large smelting operations—whether you're processing ore, cooking food, or burning wood into more charcoal.
Comparing to Other Fuels
Charcoal blocks provide the same burn duration as coal blocks, making them a renewable alternative if you have access to wood. This is particularly valuable in early-game survival when coal ore is scarce but trees are abundant.
