How to Use the LifeTime Tracker to Find Where Items and Entities Came From
What the tracker does
The LifeTime tracker attaches origin and lifetime information to entities and items, so you can answer questions like "where did this item spawn?" or "how long has this mob been alive?" This is extremely useful for debugging farms, finding leaks, and understanding where stray items are coming from.
Enabling and inspecting
Turn the tracker on through the Carpet settings. Once active, you can inspect a tracked entity or item to see its recorded data. The tracker stores where the object originated and how long it has existed, which lets you trace an item back to the machine or drop that produced it.
Debugging with lifetime data
A classic use case: you notice items piling up somewhere unexpected. Track one and read its origin — it will point you to the source, whether that is a specific farm, a broken hopper line, or a mob drop. For entities, a very long lifetime on a mob that should have despawned or died indicates it is stuck somewhere. Use the lifetime figure to confirm whether something is being refreshed repeatedly rather than genuinely persisting. Because this is a diagnostic tool, it does not change gameplay; disable it once your investigation is complete to avoid unnecessary overhead.
