Starting and Controlling Fires

Light fires using Flint and Steel, a bow with Flame enchantment, lava, lightning, or by igniting Fire Barrels with redstone or arrows. Fires spread naturally across wooden blocks, leaves, and grass—wind direction determines how quickly flames advance, so place flags around your area to predict spread patterns.

To extinguish fires, craft a Fire Extinguisher, throw wind charges at burning blocks, or use water. In emergencies, use the /burnt killFire command to stop all fires instantly. Iron Golems will automatically help defend villages from spreading flames.

After fires burn out, collect the charred remains as new building blocks, or craft burnt wood safely by placing regular wood in a Smoker without starting actual fires.
