Using Build Guide Mod in Multiplayer Servers Without the Mod
Why It Works on Vanilla Servers
Build Guide is a client-side mod, meaning the hologram is rendered only on your computer. The server never needs to know it exists, so you can join any multiplayer world — even one running completely vanilla — and still see your projected shapes. Nothing is sent to the server, and no server-side plugin or permission is required.
Setting Up Your Hologram on a Server
Join the server as normal, then open the Build Guide GUI with its keybind. Create your shape (circle, sphere, line, cone, etc.) the same way you would in singleplayer. The hologram anchors to your player position and renders locally. Other players will not see it, which is useful if you don't want to clutter their view.
Practical Tips for Server Building
Because the hologram is personal, coordinate with teammates by describing the shape's dimensions rather than expecting them to see it. If the server has anti-cheat or strict movement plugins, avoid rapidly spamming GUI toggles while moving. Remember that ghost blocks are non-solid — you can walk through them freely, so use them purely as a visual reference while placing real blocks. Clear the hologram when done to keep your screen clean.
