How to Pick Up Axolotls, Fish, and Other Mobs with a Bucket

Bucket Lib gives bucket items the ability to store entities, which is why buckets from supported mods can scoop up axolotls, fish, and even mobs added by other mods.

Fill the bucket with a mob

Hold the bucket in your main hand and right-click directly on the entity you want to capture. Water-based mobs like fish and axolotls are the usual targets, but the library also supports modded creatures that opt in. If the mob is not supported, the bucket will simply do nothing.

Release the mob

Right-click on a block face with the filled bucket to place the entity back into the world. The mob spawns at the targeted position, so aim at open ground or into water if the creature needs it. The bucket becomes empty and can be reused immediately.

Understand what limits capture

Not every entity is bucketable. Each bucket mod decides which mobs its buckets accept, and Bucket Lib only provides the machinery. If a particular animal will not go in, check that mod's config or documentation. Some mobs may also require the bucket to be a specific type, such as a wooden bucket versus a metal one, depending on how the bucket mod was configured.
