How to Milk Cows and Goats and Use Milk with Other Mods

Bucket Lib includes milk mechanics, so buckets built on it can milk cows and goats and produce a milk fluid that other mods recognize.

Milk a cow or goat

Hold an empty bucket and right-click a cow or a goat. The bucket fills with milk. Goats work the same way as cows, so you do not need a separate tool for them.

Use the milk

You can drink the milk to clear status effects, the same as a vanilla milk bucket. You can also pour it into tanks, machines, or fluid containers from other mods, because Bucket Lib registers milk as a proper fluid rather than a special-case item.

Combine with milk-using mods

Mods that consume milk as a fluid, such as cooking or brewing mods, will accept the milk from these buckets automatically. Place the bucket in the mod's input slot or pipe it in through a fluid handler.

If milking fails

Make sure the bucket is empty and that you are targeting an actual cow or goat, not a baby or an unrelated mob. Some bucket mods also gate milking behind a config option, so check that mod's settings if right-clicking produces nothing.
