How to Grow and Harvest Cassava

Planting Cassava

Cassava is a staple Brazilian crop that grows in farmland like wheat or potatoes. Plant cassava seeds on tilled soil and ensure the area is hydrated with water nearby. Cassava takes several growth stages to mature, so be patient.

Harvesting and Processing

Once fully grown, break the cassava plant to collect cassava roots. These roots are your base ingredient for many Brazilian recipes. You can eat cassava roots raw for a small hunger restore, but they're much more useful when processed.

To get cassava flour or starch, you'll need to use a cutting board (from Farmer's Delight) or other processing stations. Place the cassava root on the cutting board and use the appropriate tool to break it down into usable ingredients for traditional Brazilian dishes like cassava bread or flour-based recipes.

Farming Tips

Plant cassava in rows with adequate spacing and water access for efficient harvesting. Unlike some crops, cassava benefits from being grown in larger patches since you'll need consistent supplies for cooking projects.
