Turning Off or Reducing the Damage From Bottling XP

Why You Might Change This

By default, creating an XP bottle hurts you a little. That is intentional — bottling raw experience is meant to sting. But on hardcore runs, in combat, or if you just find it annoying, the mod lets you change it.

Editing the Config

1. Locate the mod's config file in your instance's config folder. It is a plain text file you can open with any text editor.

2. Find the damageOnCreation option. Setting it to false disables the damage entirely; leaving it true keeps the default behavior.

3. Find the halfHeartDamageAmount option. This controls how much damage is dealt per bottle. Lower it for a gentler cost, or raise it if you want bottling to be a real decision.

4. Save the file and reload the game (or the world, depending on your setup) for changes to take effect.

Things to Know

  • The damage is applied each time you create a bottle, so bottling a large amount of XP in one sitting stacks the cost.
  • If you disable damage, bottling becomes a free, risk-free way to protect all your XP — useful, but it removes the mod's built-in trade-off.
  • On a server, the config is controlled server-side, so ask your admin if you cannot change it yourself.

If the values do not seem to apply, double-check you edited the correct config file for the version you are running.
