Defeat a Boss and Collect the Drop
Boss Companions appear as drops after you defeat any boss monster. The type of companion you receive matches the boss you defeated. Make sure you have inventory space before the final blow, as the pet will drop like regular loot.
Tame Your Companion with the Right Item
Each companion requires a specific item to become tamed and follow you:
- Witherite: Give it a Wither Rose
- Wardling: Offer an Echo Shard
- Guardian's Hatchling: Feed Cod to the egg to trigger hatching
- Dragon Hatchling: Present an Ender Pearl
- Mini Spud: Feed it a Poisonous Potato
Approach the companion and use the correct item on it. Once tamed, it will follow you and become your active pet. You can carry multiple companions, but only one will actively travel with you at a time. Store extras in your inventory or base for later use.
