How to Read Book Titles and Types on a Chiseled Bookshelf

The core use of this mod is checking what is stored in a chiseled bookshelf without pulling every book out. It works through a simple look-at interaction, so there is nothing to craft or configure first.

Steps

1. Place or find a chiseled bookshelf that already has books slotted into it. Empty slots show nothing, so only occupied slots give information.

2. Aim your crosshair directly at one of the books sticking out of the shelf. Point at the book itself, not the wooden frame around it.

3. Hold your aim steady for a moment. A tooltip appears near your crosshair showing the book's type (for example, whether it is a normal book, a written book, a book and quill, or an enchanted book) along with its title if it has one.

4. Move your aim to a different slot to inspect that book instead. The tooltip updates to match whichever book you are currently looking at.

What You Will See

Written books and enchanted books display their custom names, while plain books and book and quills show their default type label. This lets you scan a full shelf at a glance instead of opening each slot.
