How to Enable Bedrock Side Culling in the Bocchium Mod
The Bocchium Mod's headline feature is skipping the rendering of bedrock's side faces, which are almost never visible in normal play. Enabling this is the fastest way to see a performance gain, especially in the Nether or the End where large bedrock masses exist.
Steps
1. Open the mod's configuration screen from the Mods list in your mod loader, or edit the config file directly if your setup exposes one.
2. Locate the option that controls bedrock side rendering. It is typically grouped with the general culling toggles rather than the dimension-specific ones.
3. Turn the bedrock side culling option on. The mod applies this per-dimension, so check that the dimension you play in most is included.
4. Save the config and reload your world or restart the client so the change takes effect.
What to Expect
After enabling it, bedrock blocks will still appear solid from above and below, but their vertical side faces stop being drawn. You will not notice a visual difference in normal terrain because those faces are buried. The benefit shows up as reduced chunk rebuild time and smoother framerates near the world floor or ceiling.
If you ever need to compare, toggle the option off and watch the same area. The difference is most obvious in the Nether roof and the End's bottom islands.
