How to Reduce Blur Plus Performance Impact While Keeping the Effect
Blur Plus is designed to be lightweight, but any background blur still costs some rendering work. If you notice lower frame rates or stutter when opening menus, you can keep the aesthetic while trimming the cost.
Lower the Blur Strength
1. Open Options and go to the Blur Plus settings.
2. Reduce the blur strength slider. A lighter blur is cheaper to render than a heavy one.
3. Watch your frame rate while a menu is open to compare.
Other Ways to Ease the Load
- Close menus when you do not need them; the blur only renders while a GUI is open, so gameplay is unaffected.
- Avoid stacking multiple GUI-altering mods, which can compound rendering work.
- If you use shaders, test with them off to see whether the blur or the shader is the real cost.
- On very low-end machines, disabling the blur entirely is the surest fix — you lose the look but keep smooth performance.
When to Keep It On
On most systems the effect is negligible, so leave it enabled and only tune it down if you actually see a problem. Adjust strength first, then disable as a last resort.
