Building a Horse-Friendly Highway with Block Runner

Why Horses Benefit Too

The speed change isn't limited to players on foot — it also applies while riding. That means a well-built road makes long-distance horse travel genuinely faster, which is the whole point of a highway.

Planning the Route

1. Pick a single fast block for the whole highway so speed stays consistent. Path blocks are the natural choice; stone bricks work if configured.

2. Keep the road at least two blocks wide so you and your horse don't clip edges.

3. Avoid mixing in slow blocks. Every grass or dirt tile you cross resets you to normal speed.

Building and Testing

1. Clear the route and lay your chosen block continuously.

2. Add gentle turns rather than sharp corners — high speed plus tight turns equals falling off.

3. Bridge over water and ravines with the same fast block so the boost never breaks.

4. Ride the full length on horseback and watch your speed. If a stretch feels slow, check for a gap in the road material.

5. Optionally light the road with torches or lanterns to keep mobs off and make night travel safe.

Extras

  • Connect your highway to a stable or base entrance so the fast section starts right where you mount up.
  • If you play with others, agree on one road block so everyone gets the same boost.
