Using BindCommands on a Server: Permissions and Limitations

Commands Still Need Permission

BindCommands only sends the command for you — it does not grant permission to run it. On a multiplayer server, a binding works only if you could type that same command in chat and have it succeed. If you lack the rank or permission node for a command, the binding will fail the same way a manual attempt would.

Client-Side vs Server-Side

This is a client-side convenience mod. It runs on your game and fires commands into chat or the command handler. The server does not need the mod installed, and installing it does not change what the server allows. Anything the server blocks, your binding cannot bypass.

Practical Uses on Servers

Bindings are most useful for commands you are allowed to use often: teleport or warp commands, home and spawn commands, and simple utility commands. Put these on keys you can reach quickly so you can escape danger or return to base without opening chat.

Troubleshooting

If a binding does nothing on a server but works in singleplayer, the cause is almost always permissions or a command that does not exist there. Test the command manually first. If it works by hand but not by key, check for a key conflict. If it fails both ways, the issue is with the command or your permissions, not with BindCommands.
