Finding and Exploring Nether Cities

Locating Nether Cities

Nether Cities are rare, massive structures that generate throughout the Nether dimension. They're most commonly found at lower Y-levels, so descend deeper into the Nether to increase your chances. Use beds or TNT to mine downward quickly, or simply explore caverns at bedrock level.

Preparing for Exploration

Bring:

• A pickaxe (Fireruby or better) for mining through structure blocks
• Plenty of torches or lanterns to light your path
• Food and healing items—cities contain dangerous new monsters
• A sword to fight Nagas and other hostile mobs
• Blocks for building bridges over lava

Navigating the Structure

Nether Cities are dark and labyrinthine. Mark your route with torches or colored blocks so you can find your way back. Watch for loot chests hidden in rooms—these contain valuable materials and gear. Move cautiously around corners; Nagas and other tough monsters spawn frequently inside these structures. If overwhelmed, retreat to a safe room and heal before continuing.
