How to Find and Explore Nether Cities

Locating Nether Cities

Nether Cities are rare, massive structures scattered throughout the dimension. They're most commonly found in the deeper layers of the Nether, so you'll need to explore vertically as well as horizontally. Use the Nether's layered biome generation to your advantage—descend through multiple biome layers to increase your chances of discovery.

Preparation and Exploration

Bring plenty of blocks for building bridges and platforms, as cities often sit in dangerous terrain surrounded by lava and hostile mobs. Pack food, healing items, and weapons—Nether Cities contain dark dungeons with powerful enemies. Bring a pickaxe to harvest the unique building blocks and materials found in these structures.

What to Expect

Once you find a city, expect to encounter multiple levels and chambers filled with loot chests. Be cautious of dark areas where dangerous mobs spawn. The structures contain valuable materials and blocks you won't find elsewhere, making them worth the risk. Mark the location with a beacon or waypoint so you can return safely.
