Using Better Trident Return on a Multiplayer Server (Client and Server Setup)

Who needs the mod

Better Trident Return is designed for servers. The slot-return logic runs server-side, so a vanilla client can connect to a server running the mod and still get the correct return behavior. You do not need to install anything on your own client just to play on such a server.

What to expect as a player

1. Join the server as you normally would, with or without the mod on your client.

2. Throw a Loyalty trident from a chosen hotbar slot.

3. The server tracks the origin slot and returns the trident there when it comes back.

4. If the origin slot is full at return time, the server places the trident in the first available slot.

Singleplayer and LAN

In singleplayer, the integrated server handles the logic, so the behavior works the same as on a dedicated server. For LAN worlds, the host's game acts as the server, so the host needs the mod for guests to see the slot-return behavior.

Tips for server play

  • Coordinate with your server admin if tridents seem to return to random slots; the mod may not be active.
  • Keep your trident in a consistent hotbar slot so the return is predictable during PvP or mob farms.
  • Remember that other players' tridents are tracked independently, so your slot preference does not affect theirs.
