Fixing a Loyalty Trident That Returns to the Wrong Slot

Why the trident might not return to its slot

The mod only returns the trident to its origin slot if that slot is free when the trident arrives. If you filled the slot with another item while the trident was in flight, the mod falls back to the first available slot. That is expected behavior, not a bug.

Troubleshooting steps

1. Confirm the trident actually has the Loyalty enchantment. Without Loyalty, the trident never returns on its own.

2. Check whether the origin slot was occupied at the moment of return. Clear it before throwing next time.

3. Verify the mod is active on the server or, in singleplayer, in your own game.

4. If you are on a server, ask whether Better Trident Return is installed server-side; clients alone cannot force the behavior.

5. Test in a safe area: throw the trident, do not touch your inventory, and watch which slot it lands in.

Avoiding future mix-ups

• Reserve one hotbar slot exclusively for the trident.
• Do not reorganize your hotbar while a trident is mid-flight.
• If you must swap items, expect the fallback to the first open slot.

Once the origin slot stays clear, the trident reliably snaps back to where you threw it.
