Apply Your First Sword Trim

What You Need

Gather these materials:

• A sword (iron, diamond, or netherite)
• A smithing trim material (Quartz, Emerald, Lapis Lazuli, Weeping Obsidian, or Redstone)
• A smithing template specific to Better Swords Trims
• A smithing table

Applying the Trim

1. Open your smithing table

2. Place your sword in the leftmost slot

3. Place the Better Swords Trims template in the middle slot

4. Place your chosen trim material in the rightmost slot

5. The trimmed sword appears in the output slot

Your sword now has both the visual trim and its associated combat effect. The trim persists even if you repair or combine the sword with another on an anvil.

Choosing Your Trim

Consider what effect suits your playstyle:

• Quartz for farming and experience grinding
• Emerald for crowd control
• Lapis Lazuli for tracking mob groups
• Weeping Obsidian for area damage
• Redstone for slowing tough enemies

You can apply different trims to different swords and swap them as needed.
