Enable Custom Dog Models in Optifine

Prerequisites

Better Dogs Resource Pack requires Optifine to display the custom dog models correctly. Without this step, wolves will appear as default models.

Enable Custom Entity Models

1. Launch Minecraft with Optifine installed

2. Open Options → Video Settings

3. Scroll down and locate Custom Entity Models

4. Set this option to ON

5. Apply the changes and return to the world

Your wolves should now display as the detailed dog breed models from the resource pack. If models still don't appear, verify that Better Dogs is loaded in your resource packs list (in Video Settings → Resource Packs) and positioned above any conflicting packs.

Troubleshooting

If dogs still appear as default wolves after enabling Custom Entity Models, try reloading your resource packs by pressing F3 + T (or your equivalent reload key). You may also need to update Optifine to a newer version for full compatibility.
