Set Up a Chroma Key Recording Studio

Choosing Your Background Block

Select a colored block that contrasts with your subject. Green and blue are traditional chroma key colors, but any solid color works. The mod provides both regular and emissive variants—use emissive blocks if you want the background to glow without additional lighting.

Building Your Studio

1. Create a large flat wall or backdrop using your chosen colored blocks

2. Make the backdrop at least 2–3 blocks larger than your subject in all directions to avoid edge artifacts

3. Place your subject (mob or player) in front of the backdrop

4. Add lighting to illuminate your subject evenly, separate from the backdrop

5. Position your camera to frame the subject against the colored background

Recording Tips

Keep your subject away from the backdrop to reduce color spill. Use consistent lighting so the background color remains uniform throughout your recording. Test your footage in your video editor to confirm the color keys cleanly before recording long sessions.
