How to Make Ghast Tentacles Wiggle and Look Scarier

What the Animation Changes

With Better Animations Collection 2 installed, ghast tentacles are no longer a single rigid model piece. The mod splits each tentacle into multiple segments and animates them so they sway, curl, and trail behind the ghast as it drifts through the Nether. The result is a more organic, movie-monster look rather than stiff dangling strips.

Getting the Most Out of It

You do not need to craft or configure anything for this effect. Simply encounter a ghast in the Nether and watch its underside while it moves. The wiggle is most visible when the ghast is drifting sideways or turning, because the tentacles lag behind the body and then catch up.

A few practical tips:

  • Fight ghasts from below or at a distance so you can see the full tentacle motion instead of just the top of the body.
  • In a group of ghasts, the animation makes each one read more clearly as a living creature, which helps you track them during combat.
  • If you use a resource pack that retextures ghasts, the animation still applies because it changes the model, not the texture.
  • The effect is purely visual and does not change hitboxes or attack behavior, so your usual bow timing still works.

If the tentacles look static, check that no other mod is overriding the ghast model, since model-replacing mods can conflict.
