Making Bedrodium Play Nicely With Shaders and Other Optimization Mods

The Core Conflict

Bedrodium works by hiding bedrock faces that would otherwise be invisible. Shaders and other rendering mods also decide what geometry to draw, so when two systems disagree about a face, you get flickering, missing bedrock, or see-through gaps. The goal is to let one system own the decision.

Order of Operations

1. Install Bedrodium alongside your performance mods as usual, then load a world and look at bedrock from below and above.

2. If bedrock flickers or vanishes, disable your shader pack first and re-check. Shaders are the most common source of conflict.

3. If the problem persists, disable other face-culling or optimization mods one at a time until the glitch stops. The last one you removed is the culprit.

4. Once you find a stable combination, note it down so you do not have to repeat the process after an update.

Practical Tips

  • Prefer shader packs that are known to be stable with optimization mods rather than experimental ones.
  • If a shader has a setting for block-face culling or similar, try toggling it.
  • Keep your mod list lean; every extra rendering mod is another chance for a conflict.
  • Remember that missing bedrock at the very bottom of the overworld and optimized Nether layers are intended behavior, not conflicts.
