Fixing Bedrock That Looks Wrong or Disappears With Bedrodium

Understand What the Mod Does

Bedrodium hides bedrock faces that would normally be invisible, and removes the bottom layer of bedrock polygons in the overworld while optimizing the top and bottom layers in the Nether. Because it changes how those faces are drawn, visual glitches usually come from another mod or resource pack fighting over the same geometry, not from Bedrodium itself.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1. Move to a spot where you can clearly see bedrock — the bottom of the overworld or the Nether roof/floor — and look at it from several angles, including from below.

2. If faces vanish when you look from a certain direction, note that direction; it tells you which culling is misbehaving.

3. Temporarily disable other rendering or optimization mods one at a time and re-check. Sodium-style renderers, culling mods, and shader packs are the usual suspects.

4. If you use shaders, switch to a simple or vanilla-style shader and look again.

5. Try a fresh resource pack set; a pack that retextures bedrock can interact badly with face culling.

When It Is Not a Bug

Seeing no bedrock at the very bottom of the world in the overworld is intended — that layer is removed for performance. Likewise, the Nether's top and bottom are optimized. Only treat it as a problem if bedrock you should be able to stand on or see is missing or transparent.
