How to Configure Baritone Settings and Fix Common Problems
Accessing Settings
Baritone exposes many options through commands. Type #settings to list them, or #set <setting> <value> to change one. Settings control things like whether Baritone allows breaking blocks, whether it places torches, how it handles water, and how far it will path. Explore the list to tune behavior to your playstyle.
Common Fixes
- Baritone won't move: make sure no goal is conflicting. Run
#stop, then reissue your command. - It gets stuck on a wall or cliff: try
#resetto force a new path calculation. - It refuses to break blocks: check that block-breaking is enabled in settings; some servers or configurations disable it.
- It walks into danger: adjust avoidance settings so it treats lava, fire, or water as AVOID.
- Path looks wrong: use
#pathto visualize it, then#resetand try again.
Performance Notes
Baritone caches simplified chunk data in RAM for fast planning. On large render distances this uses more memory; lowering render distance or chunk caching limits can help on weaker machines. If pathing feels slow, reduce the maximum path length or let it recalculate in smaller segments. Always keep a way to cancel — #stop is your safety net.
