How to Retrieve Your Banner Without Losing It

Why banners can seem stuck

Once a banner is placed as a flag, it is tied to the block it is attached to. You cannot simply punch the banner itself to remove it the way you would a normal placed banner in some setups. The mod handles retrieval through the supporting block instead.

Breaking the block to get it back

Find the block the flag is attached to and break that block. When the supporting block is destroyed, the banner is returned to you so you can reuse it. This is the intended way to take a flag down, and it means you never permanently lose a design you spent time on.

Swapping designs

If you want to change which banner is displayed, break the supporting block, collect the old banner, then place your new banner on a block face the same way. Keep your spare banners in a chest nearby so you can rotate designs quickly.

Tips

  • Remember which block a flag is mounted on before you start mining, so you break the right one.
  • In survival, this lets you move flags between builds without recrafting them.
  • Retrieve flags before demolishing a structure so nothing is left behind.
