Stopping AutoSwitch From Interfering With Combat and Building
The most common complaint about AutoSwitch is that it swaps when you *don't* want it to — mid-fight, mid-build, or while you're trying to place blocks. Here's how to rein it in.
Separate breaking from attacking
In the config, look for independent toggles for block breaking and attacking. If you only want auto-tool-selection while mining, turn off the attack side. If you only want auto-weapon-selection, do the opposite. Keeping them separate is the single biggest quality-of-life improvement.
Protect your building flow
AutoSwitch reacts to *breaking*, not placing, so placing
blocks shouldn't trigger it. If it feels like it does, check whether you have a keybind or a "swap on right-click" option enabled — disable it. Also check that your swap-back delay isn't so short that it yanks the tool out of your hand the instant you stop mining.
Use a toggle keybind
Bind the mod's enable/disable key to something easy to reach. Tap it off before a boss fight or a redstone session, tap it back on when you head to the mines. This is faster than opening the config every time and lets you keep the mod installed without committing to its behavior 100% of the time.
If swaps still feel wrong, reduce the search scope to hotbar-only — most "interference" comes from the mod reaching into your inventory.
