Using AutoRun for Long-Distance Travel and Inventory Management

Travelling Long Distances Hands-Free

AutoRun is designed for exactly the situation where you need to cross a large biome, follow a long road, or traverse a nether tunnel without holding W the entire time. Face the direction you want to go, press the toggle key, and your character walks continuously. You can then use your mouse to look around, check your surroundings, or open your inventory without stopping. Because the mod is client-side, this works on any server you join, including vanilla servers, as long as the server allows normal client mods.

Managing Inventory While Moving

A common use case is sorting, crafting, or reorganising your inventory while travelling. With AutoRun active, open your inventory and do your work. Your character keeps walking in the same direction. Be aware that opening chat or pressing movement keys will cancel AutoRun, so if you need to type, expect the auto-walk to stop and re-toggle it afterwards.

Practical Tips for Safe Travel

AutoRun does not steer for you, so it will walk you straight into lava, off cliffs, or into mobs if you are not watching. Keep your camera pointed in the direction of travel and glance ahead regularly. For ocean travel, AutoRun pairs well with a boat since you can toggle it and let the boat drift. For nether tunnels, build a safe enclosed path first, then auto-walk with confidence.
