How to Toggle AutoRun and Cancel It with Manual Input

Toggling AutoRun On and Off

AutoRun is a client-side mod, so once it is installed you do not need anything on the server side to use it. To start auto-walking, press the toggle key. The default toggle keys are O and P, but you can change these in the standard Minecraft Controls menu under the AutoRun category. When you press the key, your character will begin walking continuously in whatever direction you are currently facing. Press the toggle key again to stop.

Cancelling AutoRun by Moving Manually

One of the most important behaviours to understand is that any manual movement input cancels AutoRun. If you press a movement key (forward, back, left, or right) while AutoRun is active, the mod treats this as you taking back control and the auto-walk stops. This is intentional and prevents the mod from fighting your inputs. If you want to keep auto-walking after a brief manual adjustment, simply re-press the toggle key once you are facing the direction you want.

Sprinting While Auto-Walking

You can combine AutoRun with sprinting. While auto-walking, tap your sprint key (by default the same key you use to sprint normally) and your character will sprint in the auto-walk direction. This is useful for long-distance travel across plains, oceans via boat-adjacent paths, or long nether tunnels. If sprinting stops for any reason, tapping the sprint key again while still auto-walking will resume it.
