How to Tell Whether a Resource Pack Supports Athena
Look for Athena-Format Files
Athena reads connected texture definitions from a pack's assets. A pack built for Athena will include CTM metadata in the format Athena expects, rather than one designed for a different connected-texture mod. The quickest test is practical: enable the pack with Athena installed and inspect a block the pack advertises as connected, such as glass or brick.
Run a Simple Visual Test
Place a small patch of the relevant block — a few glass panes side by side, or a short brick wall. If the pack supports Athena, the texture borders between adjacent blocks should blend or connect rather than showing a repeated hard edge. Rotate your view and check corners; proper CTM handles inner and outer corners, not just straight seams. Glass panes are a good stress test because Athena applies special vertical culling to them, so correctly hidden inner faces are a strong sign of real support.
Confirm with the Pack's Own Notes
Check the pack's description or documentation for a mention of Athena or its CTM format. Packs often list which connected-texture systems they target. If a pack only names a different loader, it may still work partially, but do not expect full connection or the pane-culling behaviour. When in doubt, test with a pack that explicitly states Athena support as your baseline, then compare other packs against that result to judge compatibility.
