How to Get Connected Textures Working with Athena

Understand What Athena Needs

Athena does not connect textures on its own — it is the loader that reads connected texture definitions supplied by resource packs or mods. To see connected glass, bricks, or similar blocks, you need a resource pack that includes Athena-compatible CTM data. Installing Athena alone will not change vanilla textures.

Enable a Compatible Pack

Open your resource pack selection screen and move an Athena-supporting pack to the top of the active list so it takes priority over packs below it. Apply the pack and load into a world. Place or look at a block that the pack defines as connected — glass panes and brick walls are the easiest to judge. If the texture edges now flow into neighbouring blocks instead of showing hard borders, CTM is working.

Tune the Result

Athena is built so each block type uses its own baked model, which is why it stays fast even with lots of connected blocks. If some blocks connect and others do not, that is expected: only blocks the pack defines will connect. To change which blocks connect, swap to a different pack or edit the pack's CTM files. Because Athena also handles special cases like vertical culling on glass panes, panes should hide their inner faces correctly once the pack is active — if they do not, the pack is likely missing that definition rather than Athena being broken.
