Getting Started with Scent Tracking

Using Discovery and Focus Modes

Aroma Affect Mod works in two ways. Discovery Mode automatically emits scents as you explore—you'll notice sulfur near lava, fresh air in flower forests, and other environmental cues. This works with or without real scent hardware; without it, you'll see helpful particle effects instead.

Focus Mode lets you equip a Scent Mask to actively hunt for specific targets like ores, biomes, or structures. The mod guides you toward your selection using on-screen visual indicators and particle effects. Use the radial menu to quickly switch what you're tracking.

As you progress, craft upgrades to your Scent Mask through a tiered system to improve your tracking range and accuracy. Late-game, you can connect with the vanilla Sniffer mob for enhanced tracking capabilities.
