Understand Craftable Patterns
Not all banner patterns require the Wandering Trader. The mod includes several basic pattern items you can craft yourself using a crafting table. These foundational designs include flagged borders, infinite knots, and corner rectangles—versatile shapes useful for building custom layouts.
Craft Your Pattern Items
Open a crafting table and arrange the required ingredients according to the recipe. While specific recipes vary, pattern items are typically made from common materials. Once crafted, collect your pattern item from the output slot.
Use Crafted Patterns at the Loom
Take your crafted pattern item to a Loom along with a blank banner and dye. Apply the pattern to create your first layer. Crafted patterns work identically to traded ones—they stack up to 16 layers and combine with other patterns to form complex designs. Use these basic shapes as foundations, then layer more detailed symbols on top.
