How to Tune AntiXray Detection Radius and Obfuscation Height for Performance
What These Settings Control
The detection radius determines how far away from a player AntiXray begins obfuscating blocks. A larger radius means more blocks get checked and potentially replaced, which increases server load. The max obfuscation height limits how high up obfuscation applies, preventing unnecessary processing for blocks above where players typically mine.
Adjusting for Performance
If your server experiences lag spikes or high tick times, reduce the detection radius. This means only blocks very close to players get obfuscated, cutting down on processing. Similarly, lower the max obfuscation height to match your world's typical mining levels. For example, if players rarely mine above a certain Y level, there is no need to obfuscate blocks above that point.
Balancing Security and Performance
Smaller radii and lower height limits improve performance but may leave some ores visible to Xray users who scan from a distance. Find a balance by testing with different values. Start with moderate settings and increase them if you notice Xray users still finding ores too easily. Monitor your server's performance metrics after each change. AntiXray is designed to be performance-friendly, so even moderate settings should not cause significant issues on most servers.
