Setting Up a Hippo Habitat in Your Base

Creating the Right Environment

Hippos need water and space to thrive. Build a large enclosure with a deep water section—hippos spend much of their time in water. Add sandy and grassy areas for them to rest on land. The habitat should be at least moderately sized to allow natural movement.

Populating Your Habitat

Locate hippos in river and savanna biomes near water. You can lead them back to your base using their preferred food, or breed existing hippos by feeding pairs the appropriate item. Babies will stay close to adults and gradually grow.

Maintenance

Keep the water clean and accessible. Hippos are herbivorous, so provide vegetation or their preferred food regularly. Ensure the enclosure has secure walls—hippos are large and can be unpredictable. Add lighting to prevent hostile mobs from spawning nearby.

Observation

Watch how hippos interact with each other and their environment. Families often stay together, creating a dynamic and lively display for your base.
