How to Tame and Breed Capybaras

Finding and Taming Capybaras

Capybaras spawn in warm biomes including swamps, jungles, savannas, and rivers. Once you locate one, gather melon slices from melons found in villages or grown from seeds. Hold the melon slice in your hand and right-click the capybara to feed it. Repeat until hearts appear, indicating the capybara is now tamed and will follow you.

Making Them Sit and Breeding

Right-click a tamed capybara again to make it sit down in one spot. A sitting capybara will stay in place until you right-click it again to stand up.

To breed capybaras, you'll need two tamed adults in close proximity. Feed both capybaras short grass, seagrass, or kelp. Hearts will appear above them, and a baby capybara will spawn shortly after. Baby capybaras have smaller models and textures, and will follow their parents around until they grow to full size.

Keep your capybaras well-fed and they'll remain loyal companions for your adventures.
