Avoid Burn Damage When Handling Hot Metal

Understanding Burn Damage

When you extract hot metal blanks from a fire pit with your bare hands, you take burn damage. This is a core mechanic of the mod—metalworking is dangerous without proper precautions.

Use Wooden Clips Correctly

1. Craft or obtain wooden clips

2. Place a wooden clip in your off-hand (secondary hand slot)

3. With the clip equipped, approach the fire pit containing your hot metal blank

4. Extract the blank—the wooden clip prevents burn damage

5. Carry the hot metal to your stone anvil and begin forging

Important Notes

The wooden clip must be actively held in your off-hand to provide protection. Simply having it in your inventory won't help. You can use the same clip repeatedly; it doesn't break or consume durability from normal use.
