Obtaining the Wind Rider

Craft or find the Wind Rider glider. This special item lets you soar through the sky by riding active air currents generated by the mod's wind system.

Launching and Flying

Equip the Wind Rider and jump from a high point—a tall mountain, tower, or cliff works best. The glider deploys automatically and catches wind currents. Your altitude and the local wind speed determine how long you stay airborne and how far you travel.

Riding Air Currents Effectively

Wind strength increases at higher altitudes, so climb higher to catch stronger jet streams. Use your Anemometer to find areas with strong wind before launching. Position yourself so the wind pushes you in your desired direction—flying perpendicular or against the wind will cause you to descend faster.

Combining with Weather

Certain weather types create more dramatic wind patterns. Check regional weather with /aeroweather query and position yourself in high-wind zones for longer, more dramatic flights. The Captain's Hat provides a heads-up display that can help you track wind direction while airborne.
