Diagnosing Crashes and Log Errors Caused by AddonsLib Dependencies

AddonsLib rarely crashes on its own. When it appears in a crash report, it is almost always because a dependent mod asked it to register something the library could not provide — usually a version mismatch or a missing companion mod.

Read the crash report correctly

1. Open the crash log and find the first line mentioning AddonsLib.

2. Look at the mod named immediately after it — that is the content mod whose registration failed.

3. Note whether the error says "missing dependency", "incompatible", or a null registration. Each points to a different fix.

Apply the matching fix

  • Missing dependency: install the content mod that AddonsLib expects, or remove the mod that requires it.
  • Incompatible: the content mod and library versions do not match; replace one so they align.
  • Null registration: a content mod tried to register a block the library rejected, often after a partial update — reinstall both cleanly.

Confirm the fix

Relaunch and load a world. If the game reaches the main menu and you can place blocks from the affected content mod, the dependency chain is healthy. Keep the log open the first time you play, since some registration problems only surface when a world loads rather than at startup.
