Building Overhangs and Ceiling Details Without Extra Support Blocks
Why This Matters for Builders
In vanilla, attaching decorative blocks to ceilings or creating floating overhangs often forces you to place temporary scaffolding. Additional Placements removes much of that busywork by letting you attach blocks directly to the underside and sides of existing geometry.
Building an Overhang
1. Build your main wall or pillar as normal.
2. Select a slab, stair, or similar block and aim at the upper side face of the topmost wall block.
3. Place the block so it juts outward, forming the start of the overhang.
4. Continue placing along the side faces to extend the overhang horizontally.
5. For the underside, stand below and aim at the bottom face of the overhang blocks to attach additional detail pieces such as trapdoors or signs.
Ceiling Detailing
- Aim at the bottom face of a ceiling block and right-click to hang torches, lanterns, or similar fixtures directly.
- Use side placement on ceiling edges to add trim that follows the contour of the room.
- If a piece will not attach, verify the target face is a full solid block; partial blocks like fences may not accept every attachment.
Cleanup
Because you no longer need support columns, you can skip placing and later breaking temporary blocks, which keeps your build clean and saves time.
