How to Equip an Elytra as an Accessory and Keep Your Chestplate
Why this matters
Normally an Elytra occupies your chest slot, forcing you to choose between flight and armor. Accessorify lets the Elytra live in a dedicated Cape slot, so your chestplate stays on and you keep both protection and gliding.
Steps
1. Open your inventory and locate the accessory slots added by the mod. The Cape slot is the one you want for the Elytra.
2. Pick up your Elytra in the inventory cursor and click it into the Cape slot. If the slot rejects it, open the mod's configuration menu and confirm Elytra is enabled as an accessory for the Cape slot — the mod lets you toggle which items qualify.
3. Equip your chestplate in the normal chest armor slot as usual. Both should now be worn at once.
4. Test flight by jumping off a ledge and pressing the standard jump key while airborne. If gliding does not start, verify the Elytra is actually in the Cape slot and not the chest slot.
5. When the Elytra takes durability damage, repair it the same way you normally would (phantom membranes in an anvil) — it stays equipped in the Cape slot during repair if you remove and re-add it.
Tips
- Because the mod generates replacement slots when you equip an accessory, you should not lose any total inventory space by moving the Elytra off your chest.
- If you also want a Totem of Undying active, put it in the Charm slot so it does not compete with the Elytra.
