Mine and Use Deepslate Ores Efficiently
Finding
Deepslate Layers
Deepslate generates below Y=0 throughout the expanded underground. Dig down past the traditional stone layer and you'll encounter deepslate stone, which appears darker and more textured. Raw metal ores spawn within deepslate bands, including copper, iron, gold, and other ores in their raw ore form.
Mining Deepslate Ore
Deepslate ore requires a stone pickaxe or better to mine. Iron pickaxe or higher will drop the raw ore directly. Use a silk touch pickaxe if you want to collect the deepslate ore block itself for later smelting. Raw ores can be smelted in a furnace or blast furnace to produce ingots, or combined with other raw ores in a furnace for batch processing.
Strategic Mining
Deepslate mining is slower than surface stone, so bring extra tools or a repair kit. The deeper you venture, the more valuable ores become available. Use the expanded height to your advantage—mine at different Y-levels to find specific ore types, and consider strip mining or branch mining techniques to maximize efficiency in deepslate layers.
