Locate and Mine Amethyst Geodes
Finding Geodes Underground
Amethyst geodes generate deep in the underground, often surrounded by
deepslate and other cave biomes. They appear as large purple crystal formations. Explore extensively below Y=0, particularly in areas with dripstone caverns or lush caves nearby. Use cave systems to navigate efficiently and search multiple branches.
Mining Amethyst Clusters
Amethyst geodes contain
budding amethyst blocks and crystal clusters at various growth stages. Use an iron pickaxe or better to break mature amethyst clusters and collect amethyst shards. Budding amethyst cannot be mined—it's a decorative block that slowly grows new clusters over time. Collect shards to craft amethyst blocks or combine four shards with glass to create
tinted glass.
Crafting with Amethyst
Amethyst shards are used to craft the
spyglass, a valuable tool for scouting distant terrain. Combine shards with copper ingots and other materials as needed. Consider leaving budding amethyst in place if you plan to return—it will continue generating new clusters for future harvesting.
