How to Use Chat Improvements: Middle-Click Copy, Longer History, and Image Preview

Aaron's Mod significantly upgrades Minecraft's chat with several features that vanilla players miss. Here is how to use each one.

Copying Chat Messages with Middle Click

By default, middle-clicking a chat message copies it to your clipboard. The mod offers two different modes for this — check the config to pick which one suits you. One mode may copy just the message text; the other may include the sender's name or formatting. Try both and keep the one that matches how you paste into Discord or a wiki. This is invaluable for copying coordinates, trade offers, or server rules without retyping.

Extending Chat History

Vanilla caps how far back you can scroll in chat. The mod adds a Custom Chat History Length option. Increase it to keep more messages available when you scroll up — useful on busy servers or during long trade sessions. Set it too high and memory use grows, so pick a reasonable value.

Image Preview and Scaling

When a chat message contains an image link, the mod can render a preview inline. Enable Image Preview in the config, then use the increase/decrease image scaling options to size previews to your liking. Smaller scaling keeps chat compact; larger scaling makes screenshots and maps easier to read. If previews cause lag on low-end systems, disable the feature or reduce scaling.
