How to Hide the Scoreboard and Name Tag Backgrounds in Aaron's Mod
Aaron's Mod gives you fine-grained control over the two most distracting HUD elements in vanilla Minecraft: the scoreboard sidebar and the floating name tag background behind player and mob names. Both can be toggled independently, so you can keep one and remove the other.
Hiding the Scoreboard
Open the mod's configuration screen (accessible from the mod menu or via the in-game config key, depending on your setup). Look for the Vanilla section. You will find two related options: Shadowed Scoreboard Text and Hide Scoreboard. Enabling *Hide Scoreboard* removes the sidebar entirely. If you only want to soften it rather than remove it, leave the sidebar visible and toggle *Shadowed Scoreboard Text* instead — this changes how the text renders against the background.
Removing the Name Tag Background
Still in the Vanilla section, locate Shadowed Name Tag Text and Hide Name Tag Background. *Hide Name Tag Background* strips the dark rectangle behind names, leaving only the text floating above players and mobs. *Shadowed Name Tag Text* adjusts the text shadow so names stay readable once the background is gone. Toggle both together for the cleanest look.
Changes apply immediately — no restart needed. If a name becomes hard to read against bright terrain, re-enable the shadow option rather than the background.
