Valtique Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on Valtique Shaders?
Open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs (the Iris menu), select Valtique Shaders from the list, and click Apply or Done. Iris is required, because it is what runs the shader pack's post-processing filters.
Does Valtique Shaders work with OptiFine?
Valtique Shaders is built to run through Iris, so use it with Iris. Other shader loaders are not a supported setup for this pack.
Will Valtique Shaders run on my low-end PC or laptop?
Yes. It is designed to run smoothly on weak computers without heavy frame rate drops. Most of its effects are screen filters like grain, sepia and bloom rather than heavy lighting or shadow work.
Why do my blocks still look like vanilla with the shader on?
That is intentional. Valtique Shaders keeps normal vanilla block textures and applies its look as screen filters on top, such as sepia color grading, film grain, scratches and bloom. If you see no film effects at all, check that the pack is actually selected and applied in the Iris Shader Packs menu.
How do I get the black movie bars on the top and bottom of my screen?
The letterbox bars are optional. With the pack selected, open the shader's settings from the Iris Shader Packs menu and enable the letterbox option. You can turn it off the same way when you want your full view back.
Why does the edge of my screen look curved or warped?
That is the lens distortion effect, which imitates the curve of real camera glass for an old-school camera feel. If you don't want it, turn it off in the shader's settings.
What are the lines and specks flickering on my screen?
That is the vintage film grain and scratches overlay, part of the classic movie look. It is not a rendering bug or a sign of a damaged texture.
Can I make the game less yellow or brown with this shader?
The warm, aged tint comes from the pack's sepia color grading. Check the shader's settings in the Iris menu to tone it down or adjust the overall film look. To get normal colors back completely, switch shaders off in the Shader Packs menu.
Do I need to install Valtique Shaders on the server too?
No. Shader packs run entirely on your own client through Iris, so other players and the server don't need it. Only you will see the film effects.
Will the film effects show up in my screenshots?
Yes. Sepia, grain, scratches, bloom, lens distortion and the optional letterbox bars are all drawn over the screen, so they appear in screenshots. This makes the letterbox and lens options useful for cinematic shots.
