How do I turn on Shoggy Shaders?
Open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs and click Shoggy Shaders in the list so it becomes the active pack, then click Done. If it isn't listed, use the button on that screen to open the shaderpacks folder and check that the pack file is there.
How do I know Shoggy Shaders is actually working?
Place a torch or another light source in a dark area and look for colored light around it instead of plain white vanilla lighting. You should also see shadows from blocks and trees during the day. If everything looks exactly like vanilla, the pack isn't active.
I put Shoggy Shaders in my mods folder and nothing happened, why?
Shoggy Shaders is a shader pack, not a regular mod, so it doesn't load from the mods folder. It belongs in the shaderpacks folder, and it needs a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine to run.
Will Shoggy Shaders run on my low-end PC or laptop?
Yes. It's built for potato computers and budget setups, with simple shadows and lighting that keep frame rates stable. If your game still stutters, lower your render distance in Video Settings first, because that usually costs more performance than the shader does.
How can I get even more FPS with Shoggy Shaders?
Lower render distance and simulation distance, and turn off extras like heavy resource packs or high-resolution textures. Also close other programs running in the background. Then check whether the shader's own settings menu, opened from the Shader Packs screen, offers any options you can reduce.
Does Shoggy Shaders work on multiplayer servers?
Yes. Shader packs only change how the game looks on your own screen, so it runs entirely on your client. The server doesn't need it installed, and other players don't need it either.
What does the colored lighting actually change?
Torches and other light sources tint the area around them with colored light instead of flat vanilla brightness. This adds warmth and mood to builds and makes lit areas stand out. Try mixing different light sources to give different rooms a distinct feel.
Is it too dark at night or in caves with Shoggy Shaders?
No. The pack is designed to keep visibility clear during both daytime and nighttime exploration, so you can still spot terrain and mobs. Lighting caves with torches as you go makes the colored lighting more noticeable and keeps mob spawns down.
Can I use Shoggy Shaders together with another shader pack?
No. Only one shader pack can be active at a time, so selecting a different pack in the Shader Packs menu replaces Shoggy Shaders. You can switch back at any time from the same screen.
How do I turn Shoggy Shaders off if I want vanilla graphics back?
Go to Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs and select the Off or none option at the top of the list. Your world isn't affected, since the pack only changes visuals and never edits your blocks or saves.
